Background

I worked on this project for the 2018 SunCode Hackathon. SunCode is a 2 day event sponsored by Tesla that brings together hundreds of developers and designers to tackle challenges in the renewable energy space.

Problem

When a homeowner buys solar panels, the solar company needs to conduct a site survey with a trained professional. Site surveys cost the solar industry $200 million every year. Also, the information gathered during the site survey can dramatically increase the original cost estimate the customer was given, contributing to a 40% cancellation rate after solar contracts are signed.

Our solution

Create an intuitive mobile app that guides users through the process of conducting a home solar survey on their own. This reduces cost for solar companies and provides the solar customer with a more accurate cost estimate up front.
